The majority of respondents from the BS4 area said they felt they would like more information about the environmental impact of the food they buy. With this in mind, we created the infographic below, which provides some basic information about food production and the environment.

UK food chain (production, processing and retail) accounts for 19% of UK Greenhouse Gas emissions.
Food Miles
20.386 billion road kilometres (HGV & urban miles) in total in 1 year.
Meat and Dairy
The livestock sector accounts for 15% of global emissions. Transport accounts for 14% of global emissions.
Food Waste
UK households waste 30% of food a week. 60% of which is edible.
Water Usage
Agricultural production accounts for 73% of the global freshwater consumption.
